Jeff Koons ‘Seated Ballerina’ Sculpture is up in NYC Raising Awareness

Polarizing artist Jeff Koons has recently placed his 45-foot-tall Seated Ballerina sculpture in New York City’s Rockefeller Center. The inflatable structure is part of the acclaimed artist’s Antiquity series and was inspired by a porcelain figurine, as per a press release statement. The colorful piece made in collaboration with Kiehl’s is intended to raise awareness for National Missing Children’s Month this May. The nylon artwork is available for public viewing up until June 2.

This comes as a surprise to many because Koons’ character is constantly being questioned. He has been involved in a number of counterfeiting and plagiarism scandals in his long career. Maybe the artist is turning over a new leaf.
