Gucci Embraces the Chunky Sneaker Fad with Its New Apollo Sneaker

After Kanye released his adidas Calabasas sneaker and his latest runner, we can see where the footwear silhouette trend is heading. Hypebeast are shifting from slimmer models like the NMD and Flyknit racer to thicker models like the VaporMax and this new Apollo Sneaker.

Coming off of revealing two new campaigns,  Gucci is the latest brand — following Balenciaga’s Triple S and the Raf Simons x adidas Ozweego — to add a thick-soled sneaker to its roster with its new Apollo silhouette.

The sneakers, which are made in Italy, now have Gucci’s signature logo to the side to compliment the chunky sole unit and leather upper. The Gucci Apollo leather sneaker will cost $820 USD and is available to pre-order now from Barney’s web store.
